7 Card Stud Phases of Play
Ante
Small compulsory bet to play the hand
First Deal/Third Street
Deal: 2 cards face down (“Hole”), 1 card face up (“Door”)
First Bet: Low card showing (Door card)
Bets: Bring-In Bet/Small Bet
Fourth Street
Deal: 1 card face up
First Bet: Highest showing poker hand
Bets: Small Bet (Showing pair can big bet)
Fifth Street
Deal: 1 card face up
First Bet: Highest showing poker hand
Bets: Big Bet
Sixth Street
Deal: 1 card face up
First Bet: Highest showing poker hand
Bets: Big Bet
Seventh Street
Deal: 1 card face down
First Bet: Highest showing poker hand
Bets: Big Bet
Showdown
If two or more players remain active after the final betting round, there will be a showdown. All players still in the hand reveal their cards and whoever has the best 5-card poker hand wins the pot. Ties are possible.
